Located in northeastern Italy, the Veneto region is a captivating destination for travellers interested in culture, history, and food. On this small group tour of Veneto, we begin in Venice—La Serenissima—once the heart of the Venetian Republic. With three full days here, you’ll explore the city’s remarkable canals, grand architecture and quieter neighbourhoods with a local guide and free time to wander at your own pace.
From Venice, we head into the Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its scenic vineyards and Italy’s premier sparkling wine. Here, you’ll enjoy tastings, local insights, and rolling landscapes.
Next, we stay in Vicenza, a refined city shaped by the architect Palladio, full of elegant palazzi and inviting piazze. Then, it’s on to Verona, famous for its Roman Arena, medieval streets, and vibrant food culture. Along the way, we’ll explore elegant villas and charming small towns and meet the producers behind some of Veneto’s best-known specialities—from cheese to prosecco.
This boutique tour of Italy is carefully curated for travellers who want to experience authentic Italy at a relaxed pace, with expert guides, great food, and handpicked stays.
Days 1- 4 Exploring Venice and the Lagoon
Begin your journey in Venice, where history, art and everyday life unfold in a unique city of islands and waterways. Over three unhurried days, you’ll explore the heart of La Serenissima with a local guide—crossing the Grand Canal, wandering through quiet campi (small piazzas), and discovering both the well-known landmarks and the lesser-trodden paths that reveal Venice’s true spirit.
Step aboard a private boat and head out into the Venetian Lagoon. You’ll visit Burano, with its brightly coloured houses and long lace-making tradition, and Torcello, a quiet island with a remarkable early church and a strong sense of the past. It’s a relaxed way to see a different side of Venice and get a feel for the lagoon that shaped the city’s history.
Travel north into the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills, where steep vineyards and medieval villages create one of Italy’s most striking landscapes. Spend time in the countryside, where the land itself shapes the vineyards and traditions run deep.
Visit a working cheese farm tucked in the hills above Valdobbiadene and taste the results of generations-old techniques. Explore hill towns like Asolo, with its sweeping views and poetic history, and Marostica, famous for its giant chessboard square and castle walls. There’s time to savour the wines that made this region world-famous—and to meet the people who produce them.
Settle into Vicenza, a city defined by its elegant streets and Palladian architecture. Join a local guide to discover highlights such as the Teatro Olimpico, and enjoy time to explore the boutiques, cafés and quiet charm of this walkable city.
From Vicenza, we’ll take a day trip to Padova, with its lively piazzas, layered history and the Scrovegni Chapel—home to Giotto’s early Renaissance frescoes that still move visitors today. You’ll also visit the Villa La Rotonda, one of Palladio’s most iconic works, and stroll the formal Valsanzibio Gardens, a baroque jewel tucked into the hills.
Our final base is Verona, a city rich in Roman, medieval and Renaissance heritage. You’ll have time to settle in and explore its graceful piazzas, ancient ruins, and hidden laneways. A local guide will help bring the city’s layered history to life, from its Roman amphitheatre to the gothic tombs of the ruling Scaligeri family.
From Verona, we’ll head out on a day trip to Lazise, a pretty lakeside town on the edge of Lake Garda, and take a scenic drive through the Valpolicella hills, a region known for its soft light, gentle slopes and world-class wines. We’ll also spend time in the peaceful Parco Sigurtà, a vast garden estate just outside Verona, with formal plantings, walking paths and open green spaces—a welcome contrast to city life.
To finish the tour, we’ll gather for a performance of Aida in the Arena di Verona—an unforgettable opera evening under the stars in one of the world’s most atmospheric open-air theatres. A fitting finale to your time in the Veneto.
What our clients say about our tour of the Veneto
I just wanted to write and say a huge thank you to you both for organising a fabulous tour of Veneto. The tour was a wonderful mixture of all the things I enjoy: food, wine, history with some exercise thrown in, great restaurants, and spacious hotel rooms.
The group rocked along well together and there was time to spend alone when we needed a break from each other . I think the pace suited us well and Luca was a great at maintaining a calm but organised atmosphere.
Congratulations on organising such an interesting tour, I’m delighted I found you and I have wonderful memories of my time away in Veneto. I do wish you well for the rest of the holiday season.
